BioDisclaimer: This is a character/RP journal for the character of Detective Stephens from The Dark Knight. I am not Stephens, or the actor who portrays him, Keith Szarabajka. This is all in good fun.
Writer's Note:
[1] Stephens was not given a first name in the movie. I chose the name "Jeff" for him, after Batman writer Jeph Loeb. This was, of course, before I read the novelization, which reveals his name to be Gerard. Then again, the novelization also demoted him to "stout, bushy sideburned officer" and not devoted detective. I'm sticking with Jeff.
Brief Bio Bits:
What Stephens' colleagues do [or at the least, might] know about him:
- Age: 55
- Marital status: Divorced
- He is a career cop who is a few years away from retiring. While he often thinks about that time as it grows nearer, he also doesn't know what he'd do without his job.
- He is loyal and dedicated to his job and to his friend, Jim Gordon. In a unit like Major Crimes, and on the GCPD in general, it's hard to trust anyone, but he completely trusts and believes in Gordon.
- While Stephens has seen a lot in his day - colleagues killed, the deterioration of Gotham - he tries not to be cynical. He truly is a veteran of the force, one of the few honest, good guys left, and tries to be a good example for the younger officers beneath him.
- He was married to Mary Jane Stephens for 15 years. She was unable to deal with his long work hours and the general dangerous nature of his job as a police officer, so she left him in 1998 and they were subsequently divorced. They have one son, Jay, who is away at college, away from Gotham City (much to his father's relief).
Beliefs:
- Stephens is Catholic and believes in God. While he often finds himself questioning the nature of God due to what he sees on the job, he tries to do his best.
- As stated before, he believes in Jim Gordon, however is a bit more wary about Harvey Dent and usually finds himself with conflicting emotions about the Batman.

eclecticmuses and sixwordstories. While interaction with some people may overlap at either place, I am considering them to be two different 'verses and all entries will be tagged to reflect this.
Entries taking place in the EM timeline will be tagged verse: eclecticmuses.
Entries taking place in various SWS timelines will be tagged verse: sixwordstories and possibly a more specific storyline tag.
I don't have problems playing with multiple versions of a character, but please make sure if you comment to an entry, it's for the verse that your character plays with Stephens in.
